Winners of ‘Kalanubhav Interschool Music Competition’ announced

Pune, April 27: Aparna Vikram of Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Bhugaon (Carnatic Music) along with Sukanya Gurav from P. Jog High School, Pune (Hindustani Music) topped in the competition of classical singing while also securing the second position in classical dance category. Anushka Bhagat, student of Hujurpaga Girls High School who performed Bharatnatyam made her mark amongst the classical dancers in the ‘Kalanubhav Interschool Music Competition’ 2016. Organized by city based NGO – Kalanubhav Charitable Trust, the winners of this competition were announced by Bharati Barhate, trustee of Kalanubhav Charitable Trust yesterday.

Organized for the school children between 13 and 16 years of age, the competition received a huge response and participation of around 42 students from different schools of Pune. Organized in association with SEED Infotech Ltd., the competition was held at ‘Sahakar Sadan’, Bharati Niwas Society Hall, Income Tax Office Lane, Prabhat Road, Erandawane in the city. The winners will be felicitated during the upcoming Kalanubhav Sangeet Mahotsava scheduled on May 6th & 7th, 2016 at the hands of eminent artists from the field of Music.

Shreya Joshi from Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao High School, Pune scored the second place while Mrudula Kulkarni from CMS English Medium School, Nigdi came third in the category of classical singing.

Aparna Vikram of Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Bhugaon along with Sukanya Gurav from P. Jog High School, Pune also won the second position in classical dance competition. both these students presented Bharatnatyam. Anushka Sachin Kale from Dhruv Dance Academy, Sangamner who presented Odissi dance was ranked third in this category.

The participants of classical singing category were judged by renowned vocalist Dr. Vikas Kashalkar on the basis of swar, tal / lay, bhav & presentation. Whereas, noted danseuse Jyoti Mate rated the students under the category of classical dance on the basis of movement, expressions, attire & presentation. The objective of this competition was to encourage budding talent in the field of Indian Classical Music and Dance and give them an appropriate platform for showcasing their talent.

Kalanubhav Charitable Trust provides guidance as well as renders a platform for the young people who wants to cultivate and express their hobbies, while offering them a proper guidance and support. The trust is renowned for organising various music programs and art shows to Punekars.
