Woman leaves US FDA job to become IPS officer

However she wanted to serve the nation and people, thus she left her lucrative job in the US and came back to India in May 2014. She hails from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Her father is a doctor and mother housewife. She studied electronics and instrumentation engineering  in Lucknow’s Institute of Engineering and Technology before moving to the US, where she studied MTech in the University of Michigan.  She worked for one-and-a-half year with FDA on how nano particles impacted human health.

Niharika prepared for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on her own and got all India rank of 146 in her first attempt.

Her Facebook post reads “My earliest memory of an ambition was “becoming a doctor and joining the army” like Papa. Did not become a doctor.
Did not join the army. But the country and its uniform remain.! Feeling blessed to be living the childhood dream.”
