WREATH LAYING CEREMONY AT WAR MEMORIAL BY AIR CMDE AK BHARTI AOC, AF STN PUNE

As an Air Arm of Indian Armed Forces, it is the primary role of Indian Air Force to secure the Air Space of our motherland from any form of external aggression, the misadventure by Pakistan on 01 Sep 1965 to cross the international border by launching massive armed attack was retaliated in a befitting manner by bombing Pakistan Air bases by Indian Armed Forces. The IAF played a vital role in providing air cover to the advancing Indian Forces. After 22 days of battle Indian and Pakistan agreed to ceasefire. Now, to commemorate 50 years of 1965 Indo-Pak war, a Ceremony was organised at AF Station, Pune on 12 Aug 15.

To mark the occasion, various events was hosted at AF Station, Pune. The event commenced by a wreath laying ceremony at 0900 h by Air Commodore AK Bharti VM Air Officer Commanding 2 Wg at War Memorial at MiG Triangle. Thereafter an Arms Drill show was performed by Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT) at Station Parade Ground from 1430 h to 1445 h. This was followed by an Aerobatics display at Station Parade Grounds from 1445 h to 1505 h. A briefing and interaction with War Veterans of 1965 war was followed from 1520 h to 1600 h. The ceremony culminated after a musical performance by the Air Warrior Symphony Orchestra (ASWO).
