Young professionals from Pune to start 250 student libraries in rural India

Pune, June 3, 2019: With an aim to attract school going children from rural areas to the books, a group of young professionals from Pune has come forward. Considering the lesser number of student libraries in rural schools, Y4D Foundation from Pune, in association with Sarjan Charity Foundation, Hong Cong have decided to open 250 libraries in the village schools in the entire country. The project was launch from Pune today.

These foundations have opened student libraries today in Mamasaheb Mohal Vidyalay, Shere and New English School, Kolwan, Mulshi in Pune district. Prafulkumar Nikam, President, Bijesh Kumar, Vice- President, Apurv Donde, Rameshwar Fundipalle, Sweta Naik and Shubham Dharmale were present among the dignitaries.

The initiative is in line with the ambitious flagship project ‘Book 4 Purpose’ launched by PM Narendra Modi. The efforts of Y4D and Sarjan towards empoerwing the rural youth are appreciated by Chief Minister Devendra Ji Fadanvis and also by the Chief Secretory of Maharashtra.

‘The sole idea of of the project is to reduce the number of school dropouts in rural India.’, Said Prafulkumar Nikam, President, Y4D foundation. ‘‘A youth can be empowered by reading various books and can do SOWT analysis of his or her own potential and can plan a blueprint of future or career according to their own interest and dreams.’’, He said.

Y4D Foundation is a registered charitable trust and has started interventions with issues of youth and children across the nation and brought about significant changes in the lives of youth and children in terms of education, skill training, career counselling, livelihood, environment, child nutrition management outcomes besides constituting and strengthening various institutional arrangements for sustainability. It is a group of young professionals from software and social work field, committed for nation building with creating visionary youth leadership. Y4D also has a dedicated senior team. The foundation comprises presence of wide network of Volunteer Chapters in 22 States & Union Territories.

Sarjan Charity Foundation is a non-profitable society registered under the society’s ordinance of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. They are highly active, non-profitable organization blessed with dynamic young entrepreneurs. They conduct and mobilize various activities and events related to culture, business, sports, country and society in India.
