​4 women caught gold smuggling at Pune airport

Pune, 6th May 2017 – Sleuths from the customs department detained four women at Pune international airport last week on charges of smuggling of gold biscuits worth Rs 25 lakh.

They are from Mumbai, Ahmedabad,  Bangalore and Pune.

According to officials, these ladies came from Dubai by Air India and Spice Jet flights, with their children. “They have told us that a man in Dubai tasked them to carry these gold biscuits”, said an official from the Customs department.

The woman from Mumbai came here with her 15 year old son. The customs officials seized gold rings, biscuits, 30 play stations cd, 100 dubai made protein box and six iPhones, worth Rs 17 lakh.

The lady of Ahmedabad came with her 3 children.This was her first tour to Dubai. Gold biscuits worth Rs 5 lakhs were seized from her.

The remaining gold biscuits were seized from women from Bangalore and Pune.
