Pimpri Chinchwad, 3rd July 2023: In recognition of their commendable performance during a recent incident involving an overturned LPG gas tanker at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk in Nigdi, Assistant Engineer Santosh Zodge and his colleagues from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) were honored in a felicitation ceremony held at the municipal hall, attended by Shekhar Singh, Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

A Bharat Petroleum LPG gas tanker traveling from Mumbai to Pune met with an accident near Madhukarrao Pavle Bridge in Nigdi in the early hours of June 25. Given the potential danger posed by the 18-ton gas load, the police department promptly alerted MSEDCL to shut down the electricity supply as a precautionary measure. As per MSEDCL’s instructions, the power supply to four transformers in Nigdi Gaothan, Sector 24 and 26, and Sainathnagar area was disconnected at 5 am.

 

Assistant Engineer Santosh Zodge, along with Prashant Malode, Jitendra Sarangdhar, Gopal Giri, Kiran Nalge, and other members of the public present at the spot, diligently fulfilled their duties throughout the day. Thanks to their effective coordination and swift actions, a major disaster resulting from the tanker accident was successfully averted.

 

Acknowledging this remarkable achievement, PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh felicitated Assistant Engineer Santosh Zodge for MSEDCL’s efforts.
