Bharati hospital refuses to treat injured fireman without advance payments
Pune – In a shocking incident, Bharati Hospital in Katraj allegedly refused to start treatment of a fireman, who was injured while dousing cylinder blast, until advance payments were made.
The hospital finally admitted the injured jawan Shivdas Khutwad after intervention of senior officers and resident doctors.
The Fire Brigade had received a call at 2 am about cylinder blasts at a powder coating company in Telco colony in Katraj. Accordingly a team rushed there with three fire tenders.
There were 5 cylinder blasts. Due to the impact a door was broken and hit chest of Khutwad. He suffered internal bleeding and was rushed to the nearby hospital.
He is currently admitted in ICU Ward and doctors said his condition is stable.
UPDATE, 20 Apr 2017 : The hospital officials said, “Bharati Hospital didn’t refuse the treatment of Fireman. As a standard protocol when the emergency patient arrives in Casualty first we start the treatment and then ask relatives to make a file. In this case, as a protocol, we gave treatment first and then asked to make the patients file. After your news flash we spoke with the Katraj Fire brigade in-charge and relatives also they said this type of incident didn’t happen. Now the patient is stable.”
