Pune students start ‘neither take nor give dowry’ movement, take pledge by signing affidavit
Pune – A group of students in Pune has started ‘no dowry’ movement and has taken pledge by signing affidavit in this regard.
The affidavit signed on May 7 states that “Whenever I will get married, either love marriage or arranged, I will not accept dowry like cash, gold, or anything from my wife’s parents or relatives. I will not take dowry before, during or after the marriage. If I do not follow this, action should be taken against me as per anti-dowry laws”.
The students had gathered at the historic Phule Wada and took the pledge. Till now 11 students have signed the affidavit.
Speaking to Punekar News, Vishal Mundada, a student of journalism, said, “This is the first step towards eradicating the menace of dowry from the society. I will neither take dowry nor I will give dowry. We will take this change movement to every nook and corner of Maharashtra”.
