Pune: FIRs Registered Against Two Men Involved In Electricity Theft
Loni Kalbhor, 29th January 2024: A criminal case has been registered in Loni Kalbhor against two individuals involved in electricity theft. The team from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) from the Uruli Kanchan sub-division, discovered the illicit consumption of electricity, amounting to Rs. 2 Lakhs 68 Thousand.
The case focuses on two defaulters from Kadam Wasti in Taluka Haveli, Pune district. Chandrakant Shankar Rokade’s electricity connection was disconnected in December 2018 due to outstanding arrears of Rs. 15,420. Similarly, Avinash Vijay Badde faced disconnection in November 2021, owing to an outstanding balance of Rs. 59,080.
The inspection team, comprising Deputy Executive Engineer Dhammapal Pandit, Assistant Engineer Ramprasad Narwade, Shweta Dalvi, and Siraj Syed, from the Uruli Kanchan sub-division, conducted a thorough examination of the electricity connections that had faced interruptions due to arrears. A panchnama was carried out, and materials used for electricity theft were seized during the process.

In light of the findings, a criminal case has been registered under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003 against Chandrakant Shankar Rokde and Avinash Vijay Badde at Loni Kalbhor Police Station for their involvement in the theft of electricity from their respective locations.
