Pune Airport’s Rainy Day Woes: Delays and Diversions Plague Travelers
Viman Nagar, 11th May 2024: Pune’s airport experienced disruptions on Friday afternoon as heavy rainfall led to delays and diversions of several flights. At least seven inbound and six outbound flights faced delays, with one flight diverted due to adverse weather conditions.
Passengers arriving on an Air India Express flight from Bhubaneswar endured a prolonged wait of approximately 50 minutes for their luggage at the conveyor belt. Airline officials attributed the delay to the inability to unload baggage from the aircraft amidst the downpour.
An IndiGo flight from Patna bound for Pune, scheduled to land around 4 pm, was redirected to Mumbai. Departing flights to various destinations, including Jaipur, Delhi, Patna, Bengaluru, and Goa, experienced delays of up to one to two hours.
Furthermore, flyers reported encountering heavy traffic congestion on New Airport Road once the rain subsided, compounding the delays experienced at the airport.
