Khadki, 13th December 2024: The much-awaited Khadki Metro station is expected to be operational by the end of January after experiencing delays of over a year due to multiple challenges.

While the PCMC-to-Civil Court Metro stretch has been operational since last year, work on the Khadki station remained incomplete when services began. Officials from Maha Metro now confirm that the remaining construction will be wrapped up in the next two months.

A Maha Metro representative stated, “We’ve made significant progress in recent months. The entry and exit points near Khadki railway station are almost complete, and we’re aiming to open the station for public use as soon as possible.”

According to Maha Metro officials, delays stemmed from land acquisition issues that required coordination among the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the state government, the Defence department, and the Cantonment Board. After resolving technical and administrative hurdles, work on the station resumed.

In parallel, PMC expedited road-widening efforts near the old Mumbai-Pune highway outside the Metro station. Civic officials stated that the stretch between Khadki and Bopodi, which had been restricted to one-way traffic for the last two years due to Metro and road construction, has recently reopened for two-way traffic.

“The roadwork and other pending tasks will be completed in the coming days,” said a PMC official.
