Pune: Dead Body Mystery in Hinjawadi Turns Out to Be Decomposed Dog
Reported By Varad Bhatkhande
Hinjawadi, 18th December 2024: Whose dead body was it? This question created a buzz in IT hub Hinjawadi after a suspiciously wrapped object emitting a foul odour was reported in the area. Locals passing through Shinde Wasti in Hinjawadi were convinced it was a failed attempt to dispose of a murder victim. However, in a twist reminiscent of the Drishyam movie, the suspected human body turned out to be a dead dog.
Earlier today, around 6 PM, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) received a call reporting a foul smell coming from a wrapped object in Shinde Wasti, Hinjawadi. The item, wrapped in bedsheets, raised suspicions of foul play. Taking the report seriously, the Hinjawadi Police, along with the Crime Branch Unit, arrived at the scene. However, when the bedsheets were unwrapped, they discovered the decomposing body of a dog inside.
According to police reports, the dog had been dead for several days. Initial findings suggest it was not a stray but a pet dog. There were no visible injuries, and the police believe the dog died of natural causes. It seems the owner, unsure of what to do, abandoned the body instead of burying it.
Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiya Thorat, in charge of the Hinjawadi Police Station, told Punekar News, “We received a call about a suspicious, foul-smelling object. Initially, we suspected it to be a dead body, but it turned out to be a dog. It appears to be a pet dog, and the owner likely left it there instead of burying it.”
