Pune, 18th March 2025: The infamous Porsche accident case in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, which sparked statewide outrage, is now set to be heard in court. The case involves a 17-year-old minor who, under the influence of alcohol, was driving a speeding Porsche that fatally struck two IT engineers.

According to Additional Police Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade, the case will proceed in two courts—one in the Juvenile Justice Board and the other in the Shivajinagar Sessions Court. Special public prosecutor Shishir Hire will represent the state in the trial.

The tragic accident occurred on the Kalyani Nagar road, where the minor, allegedly intoxicated, rammed his luxury car into two engineers—27-year-old Anish Avadhia and Ashwini Koshta—killing them on the spot. The impact was so severe that both victims were flung into the air before landing on the road, leading to their instant death.

During the investigation, it was revealed that several attempts were made to protect the minor from legal consequences. The blood samples taken for the alcohol test were allegedly tampered with, and doctors were reportedly complicit in the cover-up.

The police discovered that the minor’s parents and grandfather were involved in influencing the investigation and altering evidence. As a result, the doctors who aided in the manipulation were also arrested.

Additionally, the investigation revealed that the family had allegedly paid large sums of money to tamper with the evidence and shield the minor.

The incident had sparked public outrage across the country. When the Juvenile Justice Board initially granted the minor bail with a lenient punishment of writing a 300-word essay and performing minor community service, it led to widespread criticism.

Following the backlash, the police filed a chargesheet, and the case will now be heard in the Sessions Court. Authorities are determined to ensure that justice is served, with strict scrutiny on the family’s alleged attempts to obstruct the legal process.
