Pune, 23rd March 2025: After a brief respite from the heat, Pune is set to experience rising temperatures once again as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a shift to predominantly clear skies in the coming days.

The latest seven-day weather outlook indicates that from March 24 onward, the city will see consistently clear skies, leading to a gradual increase in temperature, which is expected to touch 39°C by March 28.
“With cloud cover dissipating, temperatures are likely to climb again. Over the past few days, the partial cloudiness helped moderate the heat by reflecting some of the solar radiation. However, with clear skies, more direct sunlight will reach the surface, increasing daytime temperatures,” an IMD official explained on Saturday.

On Saturday, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6°C and a minimum of 15.4°C. This marks a slight drop from March 19, when the city saw a high of 38.7°C and a low of 18.1°C.

Elsewhere in Maharashtra, Bramhapuri registered the highest temperature at 39.3°C—still lower than the extreme 40°C+ levels recorded earlier in the month. A cooling trend has also been observed in cities like Akola, where the temperature, which soared to 41.1°C on March 19, has now come down to 39.1°C.

According to an IMD update released on Saturday, “A gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C is expected across Central India and interior Maharashtra over the next four to five days.”

Additionally, the official noted that moisture levels are likely to drop as predominantly dry weather conditions set in across most districts of Maharashtra in the coming days. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to cope with the increasing heat.
