Pune: Mother Jumps into Water Tank with Twin Infants; Two-Month-Old Babies Die
Loni Kalbhor, 8th April 2025: In a heart-wrenching incident in Theur (Haveli Taluka), a 35-year-old woman jumped into a water tank with her two-month-old twin sons, resulting in the tragic death of the infants.
The incident occurred around 1 PM on Tuesday in the Dattnagar area of Theur.
According to police, Pratibha Hemant Kumar Mohite, who had recently given birth to twin boys, was visiting her maternal home in Theur for post-delivery care. The family was reportedly overjoyed by the arrival of the newborns.
However, under circumstances still being investigated, Pratibha climbed the water tank located on the premises and jumped in with the infants. Nearby residents witnessed the act and rushed to rescue her. While she was pulled out in time and survived, both infants tragically drowned.
The local police were alerted, and a team led by ACP Anuradha Udmale, along with Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Panhale, PSI Digambar Sontakke, and other officers, quickly reached the scene. The bodies of the infants have been sent to Pune for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the incident.
