Balewadi, 14th June 2025: The possibility of a reunion between Thackeray brothers, Uddhav and Raj, has become a hot topic across Maharashtra. Worli MLA Aditya Thackeray, son of Uddhav Thackeray, responded to this buzz during a media interaction in Pune, saying, “Whatever is in the mind of Maharashtra, that will happen.” While he refrained from elaborating further and avoided direct questions on the topic, his statement has reignited speculation about a possible political comeback of the once-estranged brothers.

Raj Thackeray, now president of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), left Shiv Sena, then led by his uncle Balasaheb Thackeray, in December 2005, soon after Uddhav Thackeray was appointed working president. He formed MNS in 2006. In 2022, Shiv Sena faced a major rebellion when Eknath Shinde exited the Maha Vikas Aghadi government to become Maharashtra’s Chief Minister under the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, leading to the formation of two factions within Shiv Sena.

Since then, rumors about a possible Thackeray brothers’ reunion have persisted. Over the years, these speculations have surfaced repeatedly, and recently, both Raj and Uddhav have hinted at reconciliation in multiple interviews and public appearances.

Raj Thackeray emphasized the need to set aside personal differences for the unity of Maharashtra and the Marathi people, saying it’s a matter of will, not ego. Uddhav Thackeray also expressed openness but added a condition, unity must prioritize the state’s interests. He stated that anyone working against Maharashtra’s welfare would not be accepted back.

Speaking at a Kabaddi tournament in Balewadi, Pune, Aditya Thackeray said, “Our stand is clear, if Maharashtra wants it, it should happen. We will act accordingly. Who proposes what is a technicality. If the people of Maharashtra wish for it, we’ll decide accordingly. We had even earlier shown readiness to support.”

When asked about Raj Thackeray’s recent meeting with BJP leaders and the speculation that BJP may not want a Thackeray reunion, Aditya Thackeray responded, “I don’t care who meets whom. Our stand is clear. If Maharashtra wants it, it will happen.”
