Pune Court Clerks Arrested for Taking Bribe to Enforce Flat Handover Order
Pune, 28th June 2025: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested two clerks from the Rent Control Court for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹35,000 to facilitate the transfer of a flat’s possession from a tenant back to its owner, as per a court ruling.
The arrested clerks have been identified as Ravindra Hindurao Pawar (40) and Amit Baban Bhusari (34), both posted at the Rent Control Court.
According to the ACB, the complainant, a resident of Vishal Park Society in Hingane Khurd on Sinhagad Road, had rented out his flat, but the tenant refused to vacate after the lease ended. The landlord approached the Rent Control Court, which ordered the tenant to hand over the flat to the owner. Pawar and Bhusari were assigned to carry out the court’s possession order.
However, the duo allegedly demanded ₹40,000 from the flat owner to enforce the order. On June 21, the complainant reported the demand to the ACB, following which the bribe was negotiated down to ₹35,000.
After handing over the possession of the flat to the complainant on June 27, Pawar and Bhusari called him to a restaurant on Sinhagad Road to collect the bribe. Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and caught both clerks red-handed with the ₹35,000.
A case has been registered against them at the Sinhagad Road police station under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The operation was led by Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande and Additional Superintendent Dr. Sheetal Janve, with Police Inspector Prasad Lonare handling further investigation.
