Sinhagad Road, 1st July 2025: Panic gripped Vadgaon Budruk on Sinhagad Road this afternoon after a gang of armed robbers carried out a daring daylight heist at Gajanan Jewellers.

According to preliminary information, several individuals stormed into the shop, threatening customers and staff before launching a machete attack. The shop owner and one other person sustained serious injuries in the assault.

The assailants fled with valuables worth several lakhs of rupees. Singhagad Road police reached the scene promptly and have launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to track down the culprits.

The broad daylight nature of the crime has left residents shaken and raised concerns over safety in the area.

“Around 1:30 p.m. today, three unidentified men arrived on a motorcycle and forcefully entered Gajanan Jewellers in Renuka Nagari, Vadgaon, under the jurisdiction of Sinhagad Road Police Station. They threatened the shop owner, Shankar Ghadge, and his wife, Mangal Ghadge, at knifepoint. The suspects then smashed the glass showcases and stole approximately five tolas of gold, including five gold chains and a necklace. Senior police officials, including myself, visited the crime scene immediately, and we are coordinating all legal procedures. Multiple police teams are working on the case, and we are very close to tracking down the accused,” said Sambhaji Kadam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3), speaking to Punekar News.
