Engineering Student Attempts Suicide from Rajaram Bridge; Fire Brigade Saves Life
Pune, 7th July 2025: A young engineering student attempted suicide by jumping into the Mutha River from Rajaram Bridge on Friday evening, reportedly driven by depression after repeatedly failing his exams. Thanks to the swift response by the Pune Fire Department, the youth was rescued in time and is now in stable condition.
The incident occurred around dusk and caused panic among passersby near the bridge. According to preliminary information received by the police, the youth had failed his engineering examination for the third consecutive time, which reportedly pushed him into a state of severe mental distress.
Eyewitnesses immediately alerted the police and fire brigade. A rescue team from the Pune Fire Department arrived within minutes and quickly launched a search operation in the river.
“The rescue was carried out with great urgency and caution. The young man was pulled from the river and immediately shifted to a nearby hospital,” said a senior fire department official. “His condition is now stable,” the official added.
The youth is a student at a reputed engineering college in Pune. Investigators believe academic pressure and fear of failure led to the suicide attempt.
