Pune: Couple’s Fight Leads to Death of 11-Month-Old Nephew After Wife Misses Trishul Attack Aimed at Husband

Daund, 11th July 2025: In a shocking incident from the Daund area of Pune district, a domestic altercation between a couple turned fatal when the wife, aiming a trishul at her husband, accidentally struck and killed their 11-month-old nephew.

According to police reports, the couple, Pallavi Mengawade and Nitin Mengawade, were engaged in a heated argument when Nitin’s sister-in-law, Bhagyashree Mengawade, who was holding her infant son, attempted to intervene. In a fit of rage, Pallavi hurled a trishul, reportedly aiming at Nitin, but missed. The weapon struck the baby, Avdhoot Sachin Mengawade, fatally injuring him.

The infant was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The Yavat Police Station under the Pune Rural Police has registered a case and arrested both Pallavi and Nitin Mengawade. Police confirmed that the couple frequently argued and had a history of domestic disputes. The tragedy occurred on Thursday in the Ambegaon Punarvasan area of Daund Taluka.
