Pune: PCMC Demolishes Over 13,000 Sq Ft of Illegal Constructions in Thergaon and Rahatani
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 15th July 2025: In a major crackdown on unauthorized constructions, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Monday razed eight illegal structures across Thergaon and Rahatani, covering a total area of 13,315 square feet. The action was carried out as per the directives of PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil.
The demolition in Thergaon was spearheaded by Zone G Ward Officer Kishor Nanaware, who led a team of civic officials and workers. To prevent any untoward incidents during the drive, a large contingent of police personnel was deployed at the site.
Heavy machinery, including excavators and JCBs, was brought in for the demolition. Fire tenders and ambulances were kept on standby as a safety measure. Personnel from the local police and electricity distribution company also extended logistical support during the operation.
The targeted structures included illegally constructed floors and tin sheds in Gujar Nagar and Laxman Nagar in Thergaon, as well as parts of the Rahatani Gaothan area.
Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh emphasized that PCMC’s efforts to curb unauthorized construction will continue in full force. “Our aim is to ensure orderly urban growth and provide quality civic amenities to residents. Strict action will be taken against those involved in illegal developments,” he said.
