Pune: PMC Cracks Down on Unauthorized Constructions in Karvenagar; 4,000 Sq. Ft. Encroachments Cleared
Karvenagar, 18th July 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday carried out a major anti-encroachment drive targeting unauthorized unpaved constructions along footpaths and road margins in the Karvenagar and Warje areas.
The operation was conducted in multiple locations including Shahu Colony Lane No. 1, Gulabrao Tathe Path, Spencer Chowk, opposite Mamta Sweet Home, near Sanjivani Hospital, Maharshi Stree Shikshan Sanstha, and the stretch from Rajaram bridge to Karvenagar Panand Road.
The joint action was carried out by the Construction Development Department and the Encroachment Department under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment and Unauthorized Construction Elimination) Sandeep Khalate, Zone 3 Deputy Commissioner Vijaykumar Thorat, and Warje-Karvenagar Ward Office Assistant Commissioner Deepak Raut.
During the operation, approximately 4,000 square feet of illegal, unprocessed construction was demolished. The civic team also seized 3 handcarts, 24 counters, 17 temporary sheds, 1 commercial vehicle, 1 gas cylinder, 20 miscellaneous items, and about 7 truckloads of material from the encroached sites.
The drive was executed with the help of Junior Engineer Sagar Shinde, staff from Zones 3 and 4, and Assistant Encroachment Inspectors Pradeep Mahale, Dinesh Navale, Dnyaneshwar Bavdhane, Vaibhav Jadhav, Kiran Patil, Hanumant Katkar, Shlok Taru, Vinod Dudhe, and Atul Brahmankar. Security was provided by four policemen, six Maharashtra Security Force personnel, and 40 casual workers.
The PMC stated that such operations will continue on a large scale to ensure public pathways and civic spaces remain encroachment-free.
