Pune: Heated Protests at Lavasa Over Rs 500 Entry Charge, Meeting This Week
Lavasa, 20th July 2025: Shiv Sena activists on Saturday launched a protest at the entry gate of Lavasa city, opposing the collection of ₹500 from vehicle owners, which they alleged is being charged under the false label of a “parking fee.” The party termed the fee as an “unjust burden” on visitors and demanded its immediate withdrawal.
“This so-called parking fee is nothing but an entry toll in disguise. Charging such a high amount without offering any facilities is sheer exploitation,” protesters said during the demonstration.
The agitation was spearheaded by Shiv Sena’s Pune District Chiefs Prakash Bhegde and Abasaheb Shelke, District Coordinator Kailasbhau Marne, Deputy District Chief Ram Gaikwad, Shiv Sahakar Sena Taluka Chief Mauli Daphal, Yuva Sena’s Deputy Taluka Chief Datta Zore, and Area Chief Dhananjay Pasalkar.
Responding to the protest, the Lavasa administration has scheduled a meeting on Thursday at the Town Hall. Protest leaders have been invited to the discussion in an attempt to defuse tensions and address grievances.
The Shiv Sena has issued a stern warning, stating that if the ₹500 fee is not revoked soon, the party will escalate its agitation.
