Pune: Minister Madhuri Misal Urges PMC and Police to Tackle Encroachments, Improve Traffic Flow in Kasba

Pune, 21st July 2025: In a bid to revive the historic and cultural essence of Pune’s Kasba constituency, Minister of State Madhuri Misal has called upon the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the city police to collaborate in removing encroachments and resolving traffic issues in the area. She praised the ongoing cleanliness and beautification drive being carried out by MLA Hemant Rasane, calling it an inspiring step toward building a cleaner, more culturally vibrant Kasba.

Misal made these remarks during an event at Nagnath Par Chowk, where a majestic sculpture of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Maratha royal seal was unveiled. She emphasized that restoring Pune’s artistic and cultural heritage would require concerted efforts from all administrative departments. “Rasane’s efforts mark the beginning of a larger mission to reclaim Pune’s artistic pride. I will fully support this campaign as part of my urban development responsibilities,” she stated.

22 Sculptures Revamp Former Garbage Spots :
Under the “Swachh, Sundar, and Vikasit Kasba” initiative, Misal inaugurated one of 22 three-dimensional sculptures now installed at key locations within the constituency. These sites—previously used for waste dumping—have been transformed into aesthetically pleasing public spaces with cultural relevance.

MLA Hemant Rasane outlined the broader vision of the project, stating that the initiative merges cleanliness, art, and civic awareness. “Kasba is a symbol of Pune’s heritage. This project is about changing how people perceive public spaces. These sculptures represent a shift not only in environment but also in mindset. Kasba is on track to become a model for cleanliness and beautification,” he said.

He also appealed for a city-wide ban on unauthorized flex boards, including those erected by his own political supporters. Rasane shared that a recent visit to Indore, known for its sanitation success, inspired this comprehensive approach to civic improvement.

PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram expressed appreciation for the creativity behind the beautification project and committed full support. “Ideas like these are crucial for redefining urban spaces. PMC will extend assistance not just in Kasba but across all areas of Pune,” he assured.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar also applauded the initiative, noting its potential to instill civic discipline. “This campaign can significantly enhance public spaces, particularly with Ganeshotsav approaching. We expect strong cooperation from citizens and mandals. Together, we can present Pune as a safe and clean city—especially for women,” he said.

Kumar also instructed the traffic department to clear abandoned vehicles from the roads and maintain smooth vehicular movement. He assured the police force’s full cooperation with PMC’s anti-encroachment operations.

The event was marked by the presence of BJP State General Secretary Rajesh Pandey, Deputy Commissioner (Solid Waste Management) Sandeep Kadam, Zone 1, DCP Krushikesh Rawale, BJP Mandal President Amit Kank, and several other prominent personalities.
