Pune, 25th July 2025: In a major step toward enhancing healthcare access for the underprivileged, the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Cell has distributed ₹17.28 crore in aid to 1,785 patients in Pune district between January and June 2025.

The assistance, granted through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund under the leadership of CM Devendra Fadnavis, was directed at financially vulnerable individuals battling severe health conditions. The initiative underscores the state’s commitment to providing timely and affordable medical care to citizens facing critical illnesses.

District Collector Jitendra Dudi highlighted the initiative’s impact, stating, “A total of ₹17.28 crore has been provided to patients in need across Pune in just six months. The scheme now includes 445 hospitals across the district. Citizens are encouraged to connect with the local assistance cell for help.”

The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, governed under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, functions under the direct supervision of the Chief Minister’s office. It extends emergency support for disaster relief and life-threatening medical cases such as organ transplants, cancer treatment, neonatal care, and accident-related injuries.

Financial aid typically ranges between ₹25,000 and ₹2 lakh, based on the recommendation of the CM’s Medical Committee, which assesses both the medical urgency and the applicant’s economic condition.

To make the process more accessible at the grassroots level, a dedicated CM Medical Assistance Cell operates at Room No. 10, Old Zilla Parishad Building, Pune. The unit is headed by Dr. Manasing Sable, with support from a social superintendent, a clerk, and a coordinator.

Applicants can seek help via the official website (https://cmrf.maharashtra.gov.in), email ([email protected]), or by physically visiting the office. Required documents include:
Treatment estimate from a government-approved hospital
Income certificate (annual income under ₹1.6 lakh)
Aadhaar and ration card copies
Diagnostic reports and FIR (in accident cases)

The CM Relief Fund also accepts donations from individuals, companies, and charitable institutions. Contributions are eligible for Section 80(G) income tax benefits. Donations can be made through cheques, DDs, NEFT/RTGS, or via QR code options available on the official website.

Expanding Outreach for a Healthier State
Rameshwar Naik, head of the CM Relief Cell, said, “Under the guidance of CM Devendra Fadnavis, we are offering critical and timely aid to underprivileged patients. The rise in disbursed funds reflects the growing trust and impact of this scheme.”
