Pune: Armed Robbery on Luxury Bus in Wagholi; Passengers Assaulted, Cash Looted
Wagholi, 25th July 2025: Panic gripped passengers aboard a Pune-to-Beed private bus late Wednesday night after four armed men allegedly boarded the vehicle and carried out a violent robbery near Bakori Phata on Nagar Road.
The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. when the Yuvraj Travels bus made a brief stop near Samruddhi Lodge to pick up passengers.
According to police reports, four unidentified suspects boarded the bus posing as regular commuters. Moments later, they turned aggressive, demanding money and physically assaulting passengers and staff.
In his complaint, bus driver Bhausaheb Misal stated that the attackers beat and threatened him before looting ₹5,500. Another victim, Hrishikesh Sanap, was also assaulted and robbed of cash. Bus conductor Santosh Thokal, a resident of Beed, sustained injuries during the scuffle and was forced to hand over ₹2,000.
Despite the area being moderately crowded at the time, the suspects managed to flee the scene in a car heading towards Ahilyanagar (earlier Ahmednagar).
The Wagholi Police Station, Pune City Police, registered a case against four unknown persons and initiated an investigation. Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande confirmed that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over passenger safety and night-time security on Pune’s inter-district travel routes.
