Pune, 29th July 2025: In the wake of allegations made by senior political leader Eknath Khadse regarding the recent police action at a house party in Pune’s upscale Kharadi area, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has issued a strong rebuttal, calling the accusations “completely baseless.”

Two days ago, Pune Police raided a house party allegedly involving drugs and detained seven individuals, including Dr. Pranjal Manish Khewalkar, son-in-law of Eknath Khadse. The high-profile arrests triggered a political stir, with Khadse accusing police of acting under pressure and leaking private images from Khewalkar’s confiscated laptop.

When asked about these claims, Commissioner Kumar dismissed the allegations, stating, “All actions were conducted transparently and strictly according to legal procedures. There is no reason for the public to doubt the integrity or intent of the police force.”

Regarding the claim that private images from Dr. Khewalkar’s laptop were leaked, the Commissioner said, “The police have leaked no photo or video. If civilians captured images or videos during or after the operation, that is beyond our control.”

He also clarified that the operation was based on credible intelligence, and the raid was executed only after receiving actionable information.

Context of the Police Chief’s Remarks
Commissioner Kumar addressed the media after a coordination meeting with local Ganesh Mandals to streamline the Ganesh Visarjan processions on Tilak Road, which have long faced delays. He was approached by the media regarding Khadse’s accusations, prompting him to clarify.

Reiterating the department’s stance, the Commissioner stated, “We have not acted under any external influence. Every step was lawfully executed. The public can trust that we operate within the bounds of the law.”

The case continues to develop, and further investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, the Pune Police have urged the public to refrain from speculating and assured complete transparency in the matter.
