Pune: Push for Talegaon Multi Modal Logistics Park Gains Momentum; Meeting Held in Chakan
Pune, 29th July 2025: In a major push to upgrade logistics infrastructure in the Pune region, a high-level meeting on the proposed Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) was held on Monday at the Forging Industry Division of ARAI in Chakan. The meeting brought together senior officials from the National Highway Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML), the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and key industry stakeholders.
The proposed MMLP at Talegaon—approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs—is expected to feature a comprehensive master plan with road and rail connectivity, significantly improving freight movement and promoting regional economic growth.
Speaking after the meeting, Dilip Batwal, CEO of the Federation of Chakan Industries, said, “This Multi Modal Logistics Park is a game-changer for the Pune region. It will reduce logistics costs, increase efficiency, and attract new investments. The industry is fully supportive of this initiative.”

NHLML, a 100% owned subsidiary of NHAI, is the nodal agency tasked with implementing the MMLPs across India, including the one planned for Pune. The Talegaon project is strategically located to serve industries in Chakan, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Talegaon MIDC zones.
The discussions also covered how the MMLP will enhance cargo handling capacity, decongest highways, and support multimodal transport integration, thus aligning with India’s broader infrastructure and economic development goals.
