Pune: PMPML Launches ‘Roaming Pass Center’ to Boost Passenger Convenience and Revenue
Pune, 5th August 2025: In a bid to make monthly travel pass services more accessible to commuters across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and nearby PMRDA areas, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has launched an innovative initiative titled “Roaming Pass Center.” The mobile facility, aimed at students, senior citizens, and daily commuters, was conceptualized by PMPML Chairman and Managing Director Pankaj Deore, who inaugurated the initiative today at the PMPML headquarters.
The launch event was held in the presence of Joint Managing Director Nitin Narvekar and Chief Executive Officer Asha Raut.
Key Features of the “Roaming Pass Center” Initiative:
Wider Reach: The mobile pass center will operate across six different locations from Monday to Saturday, covering both urban and rural pockets of Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the PMRDA region.
On-the-Spot Monthly Passes: Passes will be issued for general passengers, students, and senior citizens. Staff will also provide details of municipal corporation subsidized pass schemes at each location.
Multiple Payment Options: Pass fees can be paid via cash, QR code, or POS machine, ensuring ease of transaction.
Information Hub: Commuters will receive updates on PMPML services such as the Pune Darshan, Pune Tourism Bus, Women’s Special Buses, Night Bus Service, and the ‘Our PMPML’ mobile app.
Enhanced Accessibility & Revenue Goal: The primary objective is to bring services closer to citizens and students while also generating additional revenue for PMPML through improved outreach.
Weekly Schedule of Roaming Pass Center (7:30 AM to 1:30 PM):
Monday: SNDT College (Metro Station)
Tuesday: Kondhwa Gate (NDA Gate Circle)
Wednesday: Khadi Machine Chowk (KJ & JK College)
Thursday: Radha Chowk (Baner–Balewadi)
Friday: Hinjawadi (Shivaji Chowk)
Saturday: Akurdi Railway Station
PMPML officials said the mobile initiative is expected to make public transport services more accessible and citizen-friendly. The Corporation also plans to expand the “Roaming Pass Center” to more locations in the future to serve a larger commuter base and improve operational revenue.
