Pune: PMC Withdraws Revised Water Supply Schedule in Nagar Road Areas After Backlash
Viman Nagar, 7th August 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has rolled back its recently introduced water supply schedule for parts of Nagar Road within just a week of implementation, following widespread complaints from residents about inconvenient supply timings.
The new schedule was linked to the commissioning of two overhead water tanks aimed at boosting water pressure in key neighbourhoods, including Lohgaon, Wadgaon Sheri, Dhanori, Nagpur Chawl, and Yerawada. While the pressure did improve in some areas, many households reported receiving water at odd hours, disrupting daily routines.
Local residents and former corporators from the affected zones flagged the issue to PMC, stating that the timing of water supply was impractical. “People were forced to stay home late in the morning just to collect water. This isn’t feasible for working families,” said a former corporator from Wadgaon Sheri, who had received several complaints.
In response, PMC officials confirmed that the revised schedule has been suspended. “We are aware of the issues and have temporarily withdrawn the updated schedule. Our technical teams are currently addressing valve operations and correcting flow meter data to stabilize distribution,” said a senior PMC official from the water supply department.
Eknath Gadekar, Executive Engineer, PMC Water Supply Department, added, “We are actively checking areas where the pressure has been inconsistent. Our goal is to restore the earlier timings while resolving technical glitches.”
The civic body is also working on further strengthening the water infrastructure in the region. In addition to the tanks already operational in Sanjay Park and Kalwad, PMC plans to activate a third overhead tank soon to enhance supply consistency.
