Pune: Liquor Served to Hundreds on Dry Day at Kalyani Nagar’s Ballr Pub; Manager Booked, Owner Spared
Kalyani Nagar, 15th August 2025: In a brazen violation of dry day rules, Ballr Pub in Kalyani Nagar was caught serving liquor to an estimated 300–400 patrons past Thursday midnight. Police have registered a case against the establishment’s manager after a late-night raid.
According to the FIR registered by Yerawada police station, the incident unfolded around 12.30 am when the Ramwadi police chowky marshal received a tip-off from the control room about illegal liquor sales at the pub. Acting on the alert, night duty Police Sub-Inspector Fatangre reached the spot at 1.10 am and found liquor being served despite the dry day ban. Excise Inspector Jitendra Patil also inspected the premises during the operation.
Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke of Yerawada Police Station said, “Serving liquor on a dry day is a serious offence. Our team found the pub operating in full swing with alcohol being sold to hundreds of customers in clear violation of the law. Action has been initiated against those responsible, and further investigation is in progress.”
The manager, identified as Raymond Francis D’Souza (45), a resident of Kothrud, has been booked under FIR No. 557/2025 for offences under Sections 223 and 293 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act [33(w)/131].
Police Constable Dnyaneshwar Balsaraf lodged the complaint, and officials have confirmed that more legal action could follow once the investigation is complete.
