Shivajinagar, August 18, 2025: A timely intervention by Damini Marshal, a Woman Police Personnel, Sonali Hinge from Shivajinagar Police Station, saved a Class 10 topper student from leaving her home due to family distress.

Around 10 AM on Monday, Constable Hinge received a distress call from a schoolgirl who had her contact number from a previous awareness session. The student pleaded, “Didi, I need your help. I am leaving home. I am under too much tension.”

The Damini Marshal immediately rushed to meet the girl and discovered that she was a top-performing Class 10 student facing severe emotional stress. Her parents were undergoing divorce proceedings, and frequent quarrels at home had disrupted her studies. Distraught, the student had expressed hopelessness and said she did not wish to live any longer.

Constable Hinge counselled the girl, reassured her, and arranged a meeting at the school with the principal and the girl’s parents. In a sensitive dialogue, she urged the parents to think of their daughter’s well-being and highlighted how their conflicts were deeply affecting her future.

Moved by the intervention, the parents decided to withdraw their divorce case and live together as a family, promising to provide a supportive environment for their daughter. The student expressed immense relief and joy at being reunited with her parents.

The school principal, the student, and her parents thanked the Damini Marshals and Pune City Police for their compassionate effort.

This remarkable action by Damini Marshal Hinge from Shivajinagar Police Station not only prevented a vulnerable student from taking a drastic step but also restored harmony in her family.

Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi, Shivajinagar Police Station, praised the efforts of Hinge, noting that such compassionate interventions reflect the humane face of policing.
