Pune: Legal Notice Issued Against Jolly LLB 3, Court Summons Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi
Pune, 20th August 2025: Even before its release, the upcoming Bollywood film Jolly LLB 3 has run into legal trouble in Pune. Two city-based advocates have approached the civil court alleging that the film maligns the image of lawyers and judges through derogatory jokes under the pretext of “creative liberty.”
Advocates Wajed Khan (Bidkar) and Ganesh Mhaske filed a case in the Pune Civil Court seeking to restrain the release of the movie, which is scheduled to hit theatres on September 19. Taking cognisance of the matter, the court has directed actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi to appear before it on August 28.
Advocate Wajed Khan said the teaser of Jolly LLB 3 features both actors in lawyers’ attire, allegedly portraying the profession in poor light. “Such depictions insult the legal fraternity and tarnish the reputation of lawyers through electronic media,” he claimed.
Acting on the petition (R.C.S. No. 878/2024), 12th Junior Civil Judge, Senior Division, J.G. Pawar, issued summons to the film’s producers and actors. The first hearing has been fixed for August 28.
The first two films of the Jolly LLB series were well-received, with their plots revolving around courtroom drama and the judiciary. However, the third part has now sparked a legal battle even before its release.
