Vadgaonsheri, 26th August 2025: Residents of Vadgaonsheri constituency, grappling with an acute water shortage for the past several months, witnessed a major political intervention on Wednesday. MLA Bapusaheb Pathare led a protest march to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Water Supply Department, demanding a permanent resolution to the crisis.

Following the agitation, Chief Engineer Nandkishore Jagtap of the Water Supply Department issued a written assurance to improve water distribution and implement key measures to address the shortage.

According to officials, Vadgaonsheri constituency currently receives water from multiple sources, including Bhama Askhed, Lashkar, Holkar, and the Ravet Water Treatment Plant. Based on these available resources, the department has committed to ensuring a daily supply of 2.5 to 3 hours of water to Viman Nagar, Kharadi, Chandan Nagar, and Vadgaonsheri.

The department also clarified that water supply to Lohegaon will be streamlined to the extent possible until a new water project becomes operational.

“It is unacceptable that despite sufficient water resources, citizens are still deprived of supply. After continuous follow-ups failed to yield results, we were compelled to organize this protest. The Water Supply Department has now given a written assurance to improve supply immediately. Our fight will continue until every household in the constituency receives adequate water,” said Pathare during the protest.

Pathare further asserted his commitment to pursuing basic civic amenities for residents through sustained efforts.

The protest saw participation from former corporators Mahendra Pathare, Bhaiyyasaheb Jadhav, Nanasahab Nalavade, Rajendra Khandve, Sagar Khandve, Sanjay Mane, and a large number of local citizens.
