Inspection Drive Launched to Add More Hospitals Under CM’s Relief Fund and Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana in Pune District
Pune, 27th August 2025: A special inspection team comprising professors from B.J. Government Medical College has begun reviewing hospitals across Pune district to increase the number of facilities available under the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund and the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana.
In the first phase, the team has started inspecting 14 hospitals across Pune district. The initiative follows directions from Chief Minister’s Relief Cell Head Rameshwar Naik, who recently communicated with the Dean of B.J. Medical College regarding the process.
“The inspection team has begun reviewing hospitals to bring more facilities under the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund and Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Cell,” said Dr. Eknath Pawar, Dean, B.J. Government Medical College.
Currently, 200 hospitals in Pune city, Pimpri Chinchwad, and rural areas are empanelled under the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, while 445 hospitals are covered under the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund. To expand this network further, the inspection team is assessing hospitals for bed capacity, manpower availability, and essential documentation.
The Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund provides financial aid to economically weaker sections for the treatment of serious illnesses. Assistance ranges from Rs 25,000 to Rs 2 lakh depending on the ailment. Coverage includes treatment for cancer, heart, kidney, liver, lung, and brain diseases, along with orthopedic surgeries, dialysis, transplants, cochlear implants, neonatal care, burn and accident cases, and other critical conditions.
The newly formed team is headed by Dr. Anita Basavaraj, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, B.J. Government Medical College. Other members include Dr. Ashish Chavan, Associate Professor, Department of Surgery; Dr. Dnyaneshwar Jadhav, Assistant Professor, Department of Gynecology; and Satyawan Suravase, Superintendent of Social Services, who will serve as the member secretary.
