Two Injured After DJ Vehicle Hits Electric Pole During Ganesh Visarjan in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 6th September 2025: A Ganesh Visarjan procession in Mohan Nagar, Chinchwad, turned tragic late Friday night after a DJ vehicle struck an electric pole, causing a live wire to snap and fall on devotees. Two young men sustained serious injuries due to electrocution.
The incident occurred around 11 pm near the Kali Mata temple. The injured have been identified as Praveen Rajendra Kute and Amol Sadashiv Chavan. Both were rushed to a nearby private hospital, where they remain in critical condition and are currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
The festive procession, filled with music, dancing, and chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” was proceeding with great enthusiasm when the mishap took place. Panic spread among the crowd as the electric wire snapped and directly struck the two youths.
Following the incident, Pimpri Police immediately alerted employees of MSEDCL (Mahavitaran) Bhosari, who arrived on the spot and repaired the broken wire to prevent further danger.
Appealing to devotees, Senior Police Inspector Ashok Kadlag urged caution during processions: “Ganesh devotees should handle their procession carefully near electric poles, wires, and transformers. Youths on DJ vehicles should avoid standing on top and move forward safely.”
