Pune, 8th September 2025: The Kalawant Dhol-Tasha Pathak, one of Pune’s most celebrated ensembles featuring prominent Marathi film and television actors, faced disappointment during this year’s Ganesh Visarjan procession when their much-awaited performance was stalled for hours due to congestion on Tilak Road.

Invited by the Market Yard Ganesh Mandal, the troupe had gathered at 6 p.m., fully prepared for their act. But as the immersion procession failed to move forward, the performers were left waiting.

By 9 p.m., with no sign of progress, the troupe formally ended their participation by offering a symbolic salute and flag hoisting.

In a statement shared on social media, the troupe wrote, “A disheartening experience! Despite being ready at the allotted time, the procession did not progress. By 9 p.m., we had no choice but to conclude our performance… We sincerely apologize to the many who had eagerly gathered to watch us. We’ll see you again at the next festival. Ganpati Bappa Morya!”

The post went viral, attracting widespread attention and support from fans and celebrities alike, including actress Shruti Marathe, who amplified the message online.

Kalawant Dhol-Tasha Pathak is admired for fusing the glamour of cinema with the tradition of dhol-tasha, boasting well-known names such as Shruti Marathe, Siddharth Jadhav, Anuja Sathe, Tejaswini Pandit, and Saurabh Gokhale.

While this year’s visarjan performance ended in disappointment, the troupe’s popularity ensures that their future festival appearances will continue to draw massive crowds.
