Pune Bus Drivers Warned: Use of Phones or Headphones Will Lead to Immediate Suspension
Pune, 9th September 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has issued a strict ban on drivers using mobile phones or headphones while operating buses. The decision, taken at a board meeting on September 4, mandates immediate suspension for any driver found violating the rule.
The move comes in response to multiple complaints from passengers and the Regional Transport Officer about drivers using mobile phones or wearing headphones while driving. The PMPML board emphasized that the ban is aimed at ensuring passenger safety and preventing accidents.
“Direct suspension action will be taken if drivers are found using mobile phones or headphones while driving,” PMPML officials stated. The decision reflects the growing concern over unsafe driving behavior and the need to strengthen traffic safety measures.
According to PMPML, the main objective of this rule is to make public bus journeys safer and reduce the risk of accidents caused by distracted driving.
The PMPML has urged drivers to strictly comply with the rule and for passengers to report any violations to help maintain safety standards.
