Pune, 13th October 2025: The State Election Commission has directed that only its finalized voter list, dated July 1, 2025, be used for the upcoming local self-government elections. As a result, names added after July 1 have been excluded from the list sent to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), officials confirmed.

The Commission’s decision marks a shift from previous civic elections, where voter data was sourced from the District Collector’s Office and later divided ward-wise and polling-station-wise by the Corporation. This time, the Commission has instructed all municipalities to rely solely on its official voter list.

“The State Election Commission has sent us the voter list finalized on July 1, 2025. Names of individuals who registered as voters after this date have not been included,” said Additional Municipal Commissioner Om Prakash Divate.

Officials said the move has simplified the task of preparing ward-wise voter lists for the Municipal Corporation. However, it also means that newly registered voters after July 1 will not be eligible to cast their votes in the upcoming civic polls.
