Railway Installs Braille Maps at Solapur and Kalaburagi Stations to Aid Visually Impaired Passengers

Solapur, 20th October 2025: In a move to enhance accessibility and passenger convenience, the Solapur Division of Central Railway has installed Braille Maps at Solapur and Kalaburagi railway stations. The initiative aims to assist visually impaired passengers in navigating station facilities with greater ease.

According to officials, the Braille Maps have been strategically placed at the entry gates of the stations to help passengers locate essential amenities such as booking counters, waiting halls, platforms, toilets, foot over bridges, and lifts or escalators. Designed for high durability and tactile clarity, the maps ensure long-term usability and comfort for users.

The installation is part of Indian Railways’ broader efforts to create barrier-free environments and improve amenities for Divyangjan passengers. The Solapur Division stated that it is consistently upgrading infrastructure to ensure equitable access and a dignified travel experience for all passengers.

This initiative aligns with the Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan), reinforcing the commitment to making railway stations inclusive and passenger-friendly.
