Pune, 22nd October 2025: The Pune district administration has issued work orders worth Rs 600 crore as part of the Rs 900 crore projects approved under the District Planning Committee’s (DPC) annual plan. These projects, which include the construction of model schools and primary health centers, are expected to commence in various parts of the district in the coming days.

The DPC’s total annual plan is valued at Rs 1,400 crore, with a focus on improving education, health, and civic infrastructure. The plan aims to build 303 model schools and upgrade 108 primary health centers across the district. Additionally, Rs 100 crore has been earmarked each for education and health initiatives, Rs 25 crore for repairing dams and ponds, and funds have been allocated for the construction of rural and district roads.

According to officials, the Zilla Parishad will execute these works following Public Works Department norms. Out of the approved Rs 900 crore, administrative approval has been granted for projects under the Zilla Parishad’s jurisdiction. This includes around Rs 350 crore for school and health center projects. Medicines worth Rs 3 crore have already been procured for the district hospital.

“The approved works cover a wide range of civic and public amenities, including roads, sewer systems, gram panchayat buildings, and crematorium construction,” said a district administration spokesperson.

The projects had initially been scheduled for tendering and work order issuance in July. However, heavy rains and flood-like conditions in several areas caused delays, and officials now expect most works to be completed after December. The administration has decided to issue tenders for the approved works in phases, ensuring that projects progress steadily despite earlier setbacks.
