Mohammadwadi, 22nd October 2025: Kalepadal Police have filed additional charges against four individuals involved in a fatal accident in Mohammadwadi that claimed the life of 23-year-old Sunny Ambadas Misal. The accident occurred early Wednesday morning when a speeding car collided with Misal’s two-wheeler. Investigations confirmed that the driver and his companions were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The primary accused has been identified as Amaan Samir Maniyar (21), a resident of Tata Inora Park, Handewadi, Pune. Three others — Arezwa Nekzad Engineer (21) of Undri, Parth Rakesh Pandey (23) of Ravet, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Tarun Mahesh Nehlani (26) of Wadachi Wadi Road, Undri — were also present in the car.

“An innocent life was lost due to rash and negligent driving,” said Senior Police Inspector Mansing Patil of Kalepadal police station. “We are taking strict action against all accused and ensuring justice for the victim.”

Medical Reports Confirm Alcohol Use
Assistant Police Inspector Ratnadeep Gaikwad stated that the four accused were taken to Sassoon Hospital for medical examination. “Tests confirmed that Maniyar, Engineer, and Nehlani were under the influence of alcohol, while Pandey’s report came negative. However, our investigation indicates he had consumed alcohol in smaller quantities before the accident,” Gaikwad added.

Diwali Party Turns Deadly
Investigators revealed that the group had spent the previous night at a Diwali party at the residence of Aamir Arifali Nihal (32) in Kad Nagar, Undri. “Despite knowing the risks of drunk driving, the accused and their friends consumed alcohol throughout the night,” said a police officer involved in the probe.

Reckless Driving and Fatal Collision
The fatal accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. near Raheja Vista Premiere on Mohammadwadi Road. Maniyar reportedly drove his Fiat Punto at high speed and hit Misal’s two-wheeler from behind, causing critical injuries that led to his death.

Further investigation revealed that Maniyar’s friends — Engineer, Pandey, and Nehlani — had encouraged him to drive recklessly despite being aware of his intoxication. Their actions are now considered direct abetment under the law.

Charges and Legal Action
Following the investigation, all four have been named as accused. Additional charges have been added under IPC Sections 105, 54, 3(5) and Motor Vehicle Act Sections 185 and 119/177, covering abetment and driving under the influence.

The accused are currently in police custody, awaiting further court proceedings.
