Pune: PMPML Tightens Ticket Checks, Pushes for QR Code and App-Based Payments
Pune, 30th October 2025: In a bid to enhance both revenue generation and passenger experience, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has implemented new operational directives for its bus staff. PMPML Chairman and Managing Director Pankaj Deore has instructed checkers, senior conductors, and drivers to provide necessary guidance to passengers before the bus departs from depots and stations.
A meeting of checker staff from Headquarters No. 1 and 2 of the Transport Department was held at PMPML’s main training hall in Swargate under the chairmanship of Deore. During the meeting, officials emphasized the need to accelerate the use of digital ticketing systems such as QR codes and the PMPML mobile app.
Deore directed that before each trip begins, conductors and drivers must inform passengers who wish to purchase digital tickets through the QR code or the PMPML app to do so immediately. In case of network-related delays, conductors have been instructed to issue cash tickets before the next stop to ensure smooth operation and prevent revenue loss.
Additionally, during ticket inspections, if checkers find passengers who have not obtained digital tickets due to network issues, they have been instructed to impose fines in accordance with PMPML’s ticketless travel policy and submit detailed reports to their respective headquarters.
Officials believe that these measures will improve transparency in digital ticket transactions, curb ticketless travel, and contribute significantly to increasing PMPML’s overall income while improving service quality for commuters.
