Maharashtra Govt to Modernize Madrasas, Extend Grants to Minority Institutions
Pune, 3rd November 2025: The Minority Development Department has launched the “Dr. Zakir Hussain Madrasa Modernization Scheme” to upgrade and modernize madrasas across the state. Alongside, the department has also announced provisions to extend grants to government-recognized private schools, junior colleges, industrial training institutes (ITIs), and schools for the differently-abled that have a significant proportion of students from religious minority communities.
Both schemes will be implemented during the financial year 2025–26, and eligible madrasas as well as educational institutions serving minority students have been urged to submit their proposals in the prescribed government format.
As per the schedule, the last date for submitting proposals to the District Collector’s Office is November 14, 2025. The District Collector’s Office must then forward all received proposals to the concerned authorities by November 15, 2025.
