Mumbai/Pune, 5th November 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure, reviewing major connectivity and transport projects aimed at boosting mobility and sustainable urban growth across the state.

Among the key discussions were several high-impact projects for Pune, including the Pune Metro expansion, the Mumbai–Pune Expressway Missing Link, and improved connectivity to the proposed Purandar International Airport.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister approved the Pune Metro Phase-2 Extension, which will include two new corridors — Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar Depot to Saswad Road. With this expansion, Hadapsar will emerge as a critical interchange station linking Swargate, Kharadi, Loni Kalbhor, and Saswad Road, significantly improving the city’s east-west and south connectivity.

The committee also set March 2026 as the completion target for Pune Metro Line 3 (Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar), which is being developed under a public-private partnership model. The project is expected to ease congestion for thousands of daily commuters traveling from the IT hub to the city center.

Additionally, Fadnavis directed officials to plan a tunnel link from Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar Bus Depot–Saswad corridors to Purandar Airport, ensuring multi-level integration with adequate parking facilities. The move is expected to streamline future airport connectivity while supporting the city’s long-term transport network.

In a significant development, the Mumbai–Pune Expressway Missing Link Project, one of Maharashtra’s most ambitious road infrastructure undertakings, was also reviewed. The Chief Minister instructed that the project be completed by March 2026, emphasizing timely execution and quality standards.
“These projects will play a crucial role in strengthening connectivity, reducing travel time, and positioning Pune as a modern, sustainable urban hub,” officials said after the meeting.
