Viman Nagar, 12th November 2025: In a major breakthrough, the Airport Police Station under Pune City Police has cracked eight housebreaking theft cases and recovered stolen property worth ₹12 lakh, including gold ornaments and cash. Three accused — two men and a 16-year-old boy in conflict with law — have been apprehended.

The investigation began after a complaint was lodged on October 29, 2025, reporting the theft of gold and silver ornaments and cash amounting to ₹10.51 lakh from a residence within the Airport Police Station limits. The suspects had broken the main door and gate locks using tools before fleeing with the valuables.

Acting on the instructions of Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav, a special team scrutinised over 250 CCTV camera footages from the surrounding areas. The suspects were identified as Shivam Datta Avchar (19), Navnath alias Lakhan Mohite (22), and a minor, all residents of Parvati and Ramtekdi areas. Police said all three are habitual offenders with prior criminal records and were evading arrest.

Through technical surveillance and a well-planned trap, the police team nabbed the accused and seized gold ornaments worth ₹10 lakh along with the motorcycle used in the crime. During interrogation, the accused admitted to committing seven additional housebreakings by targeting locked houses and shop shutters during the Diwali period. Police subsequently recovered jewellery and cash worth ₹2.06 lakh.
With this, the total recovery in the case has reached ₹12 lakh.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional CP (East Region) Manoj Patil, DCP (Zone 4) Somay Munde, and ACP Pranjali Sonawane. The investigation was led by Sr PI Govind Jadhav and PI (Crime) Sharad Shelke.

The detection team included PSI Manoj Barure, PSI Nitin Rathod, and constables Yogesh Thopte, Gnyandev Aware, Lalu Kahe, Hariprasad Punde, and others.
