Petrol Pump Attack Accused Arrested Within 24 Hours After Creating Panic at Gunjan Chowk

Yerawada, 15th November 2025: Three men who allegedly created panic at Vilas Petrol Pump in Gunjan Chowk, Yerawada, by attacking an employee with a sharp weapon were arrested within 24 hours, police said.

The assault took place on the evening of 13 November following a minor dispute over filling petrol. The accused not only stabbed the employee but also threatened to kill the complainant if he approached the police. A case was subsequently registered at Yerawada Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Police Act.

Police said the trio has a criminal history in Yerawada, with previous cases of assault and robbery registered against them.

Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
After senior officers instructed immediate action, multiple teams were deployed to track the suspects. During the search operation, police personnel Atul Jadhav and Mukund Kokane received a tip-off from an informant that the accused were hiding on the riverbed in Kalyani Nagar.

Acting swiftly, officers Pradeep Surve, Soge, Jadhav and Kokane laid a trap and nabbed the suspects while they were reportedly preparing to flee.

The arrested accused have been identified as:
Krishna Prabhakar Naik (25), resident of Gandhinagar, Yerawada
Akshay alias Aba Sudam Jamdade (25), resident of Gandhinagar, Yerawada
Ali Rafiq Sheikh (25), resident of Gandhinagar, Yerawada

Police Officer Tejpal Jadhav is conducting the probe.

Senior Officers Supervised the Operation
The operation was executed under the guidance of:
– Additional CP (East) Manoj Patil
– DCP (Zone 4) Somay Munde
– ACP (Yerawada Division) Pranjali Sonawane
– Senior PI Anjum Bagwan

The action team included PI (Crime) Vijay Thakar, PSI Pradeep Surve, and personnel Shinde, Kokane, Wable, Soge, Kamble, Sutar, Jadhav, Adakmol and Gaikwad.

Petrol Dealers Association Welcomes Action

Dhruv Ruparel, President of Petrol Dealers Association, praised the police response, stating: “Any attack on petrol pump workers is an attack on essential public service. We fully support our staff and appreciate Pune Police for their swift and decisive action, which has restored confidence and created a strong deterrent against such crimes.”
