Army Wives Share Powerful Stories at ASMITA–Dakshini Kathan 2025 in Pune
Pune, 17th November 2025: The Southern Star Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) hosted an inspiring edition of “ASMITA – Dakshini Kathan 2025,” celebrating the courage, achievements and personal journeys of Army wives from the Southern Command. The event provided a dedicated platform for eight Army spouses who narrated how they built their own identities while balancing the demanding realities of military life.
ASMITA is a signature initiative of AWWA designed to acknowledge the strength, resilience and evolving roles of Army families. This year’s ceremony was graced by Padma Shri awardee and Paralympian Dr. Deepa Malik and Alina Alam, founder of Mitti Café, whose presence added motivation and encouragement to the gathering. Senior veteran ladies and eminent civilian dignitaries were also in attendance.
During the programme, the featured Army wives recounted deeply personal experiences — rebuilding their lives after loss, overcoming emotional and practical challenges during frequent relocations, pursuing education or careers despite obstacles, and balancing their own aspirations with family responsibilities. Their stories struck an emotional chord with the audience and highlighted the quiet strength that supports the Indian Army from behind the scenes.
Addressing the gathering, Komal Seth, Regional President of Southern Star AWWA, said that “ASMITA – Dakshini Kathan 2025” is more than an annual showcase. She described it as a collective effort to strengthen self-confidence, promote solidarity and celebrate the identity and accomplishments of Army wives. She reiterated AWWA’s commitment to uplift, empower and stand firmly with the defence community.
The event concluded with a strong message of unity and empowerment, reaffirming that the Indian soldier’s courage is reinforced by the resilience of the women who stand beside them. “ASMITA – Dakshini Kathan 2025” ended with renewed resolve to continue inspiring and supporting every member of the AWWA family.
