Lohgaon, 18th November 2025: Residents of Gurudwara Colony in Lohgaon woke up to panic and confusion early Tuesday after a woman’s body was found lying in an open plot belonging to Air Force Station Pune, located opposite the crematorium on Wagholi Road.
Locals immediately alerted the police, who shifted the body to Sassoon General Hospital for a post-mortem. Preliminary findings indicate death due to blunt force trauma.
Police identified the deceased as Suvarna Raha, aged between 30 and 40 years. According to investigators, Suvarna was in a live-in relationship with Ravi Sable, who has now been named the primary accused. His father, Ramesh Sable, has also been booked in connection with the case.
DCP (Zone 4) Somay Munde told Punekar News that a minor dispute between the couple escalated into a fatal altercation on November 14 at their residence in Yerwada, which falls under Yerwada Police Station jurisdiction. After her death, the body was allegedly transported in the accused’s autorickshaw and dumped on the Air Force land between 2 am and 3 am.
“CCTV footage and technical evidence helped us identify both the accused and the victim. An offence is being registered at Yerwada Police Station, as the murder took place within their jurisdiction,” DCP Munde said.
When asked about speculation regarding the woman’s pregnancy or an attempt to burn her, DCP Munde denied both claims.
Police are now conducting further investigations, including forensic analysis and a detailed reconstruction of the sequence of events leading to the murder.
