CPCL Logo Unveiled: Pune Police, Journalist Sumit Singh Memorial Foundation Launch Community Policing Cricket League
Pune, 28th November 2025: Today, the logos of the Journalist Sumit Singh Memorial Foundation and the Community Policing Cricket League (CPCL) were officially unveiled at the hands of Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma (IPS) and Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Pankaj Deshmukh (IPS). The unveiling coincided with the birth anniversary of the late journalist Sumit Singh.
The event was held at the Police Commissioner’s Office in Camp in the presence of foundation representatives Amit Singh, Mubarak Ansari, Lalit Kumar and Aniket Dhamale. Senior journalists Shailendra Singh, Nadim Inamdar and Sandeep Kolhatkar, along with event manager Suvidh Mehta, were also present.
The Community Policing Cricket League is a joint initiative of the Journalist Sumit Singh Memorial Foundation and Pune Police, launched as part of a community engagement and sports-driven awareness platform. The CPCL aims to strengthen cooperation between citizens and law enforcement through the spirit of cricket.
Organisers said various units of Pune Police, along with community teams, will participate in the matches, promoting teamwork, discipline and stronger police-public relations. The initiative is being planned under the guidance of the Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar (IPS).
The tournament is scheduled to be played over three days in December 2025 in Shivajinagar. Nyati Group and Bajaj General Insurance have been announced as co-sponsors of the event.
The foundation members expressed that the tournament would not only celebrate sportsmanship but also honour the memory of senior journalist Sumit Singh, known for his impactful reporting and community-focused journalism in Pune.
